Inspirational Woman Who Gets Around By Wheelchair And By Bike
2 min read
I found out about the inspirational story of Damiana Day in Bike Friday’s newsletter.
(From Bike Friday’s Newsletter. Go to https://bikefriday.com/contact and click on “please add me to the email list” to sign up. Also check out their website for their cool folding and cargo bikes, with and without e-assist)
Damiana has a medical condition that limits her ability to walk, so she uses a wheelchair. But she can still pedal a bike, and has come up with the ingenious combination of a Bike Friday folding bike plus a travel trailer on which she carries her camping gear and folded-up wheelchair. And she definitely gets around. She describes her mission to ride every road in NZ on her blog here. You can follow her progress on Strava (search for her under athletes on Strava as “Damiana day” or use this link: https://www.strava.com/athletes/1152658).
